Update:I purchased this spoon 3 years ago as of this writing. It has stirred over 700 pounds of peanut brittle and endured repeated washings after each batch–and it is still working like a champ. It is showing its age a bit, but then… so am I. I’m ordering another as a back-up. I highly recommend this spoon.~~~Original post:I wanted a wood spoon for making peanut brittle. If you’ve ever made peanut brittle, you know that by the last several minutes you’ve got to keep stirring a very thick, resistant, sticky mess–no small feat for even the largest, heartiest spoon. I’ve had handles break, the edges splinter. I ordered several, and this one won, hand’s down.This spoon ultimately saw me through making over 100 pounds of this favorite candy for the holidays. That involves not only the challenge of the stirring (and it has a comfortable grip), but the cleaning, which requires soaking and scrubbing to get the solidified sugar, syrup, and peanut residue off. If you look at the picture, this spoon still looks almost new. Amazing!
