Tubifex Cubes & Siftings

$58.71 $86.89
Description A Classic High Protein Treat Loved by Almost Every Fish Our Freeze Dried Tubifex Worm Cubes are one of the most universally accepted treats in the freshwater aquarium hobby. Harvested from aquatic mud ponds and streams, these tubificid worms are thoroughly cleaned and freeze dried to eliminate the harmful bacteria and parasites associated with live tubifex, giving you all the palatability and nutrition of live worms without the health risks. With 50% protein and a rich nutritional profile including vitamins B12 and E, tubifex worms support healthy growth, vibrant coloration, and a strong immune system in a wide range of species. Who Are They For? Tubifex cubes are a popular choice for livebearers, cichlids, discus, angelfish, corydoras, bettas, goldfish, koi, loaches, frogs, and virtually any freshwater species that consumes meaty foods. Particularly popular with breeders for conditioning fish before spawning, as the high protein content helps trigger breeding behavior in many species. Cubes and Siftings Our tubifex are available in two forms. Whole cubes are ideal for medium and large fish that can handle a full sized cube. Siftings are the smaller pieces and fine particles left behind during packaging, perfect for nano fish, fry, and small species that cannot manage a full sized cube. Siftings also work great mixed into homemade gel foods to boost protein and palatability. Siftings are available in limited quantities so check back periodically if your preferred size is not currently in stock. How to Feed Pre-soak the cube in a small amount of tank water for a few minutes before feeding for better digestibility and to help the cube break apart more easily. For an added health boost, try soaking in a small amount of garlic juice to support immune function and entice even the pickiest eaters. The cube can be dropped directly into the tank and allowed to break apart as fish pick at it, or broken into smaller pieces before feeding. Some hobbyists have success pressing the cube firmly against the aquarium glass to hold it in place for fish to graze on, though results vary depending on the tank and the fish. You can also position the cube higher on the glass for surface and mid water feeders or lower for mid to bottom feeders. Feed as a treat rather than a staple food, offering only what can be consumed within a few minutes. Remove any uneaten portions promptly to maintain water quality. A Note on Allergies Some people develop allergic reactions when handling freeze dried tubifex worms, including eye and throat irritation, similar to reactions reported with freeze dried bloodworms. If you experience any sensitivity, consider using feeding tongs or gloves and avoid inhaling any dust when opening the bag. Always wash hands after handling. Storage Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. Reseal the mylar bag tightly after each use to maintain freshness and prevent moisture from entering.
