Description A Pale and Elegant Variety With Unique Bulgarian Green Genetics Our Bulgarian Green Lilac Point Angelfish are sometimes informally referred to as New Platinum, though we moved away from that name due to confusion with the stark white Platinum phenotype. Unlike true Platinum angels which display a pure white body, Lilac Points carry a distinctive pale green overtone on a white body with fins that range from very pale gray to off white. The coloring is subtle and sophisticated, developing and deepening gradually through adulthood. Photos in this listing show different fish under different lighting conditions to illustrate the natural variation in color expression between individuals. Genetics Lilac Point Angelfish carry two copies of the Bulgarian Green gene alongside two copies of the Philippine Blue gene, expressed genetically as pb/pb bg/bg. This double dose of both genes produces the characteristic pale green overtone that defines the Lilac Point phenotype. Because both parents carry the same homozygous gene combination, breeding two Lilac Points together will produce offspring that are 100% Lilac Points with no variation in phenotype.
